Job Summary: The VP Business Development - VBC is responsible for business development, sales, and growth strategies for the Value- based Care Platform (VBC) and Scott & White Health Plan (SWHP). This position leads and drives business development strategy and product development. Develops and implements strategy for sales and new growth initiatives. Identifies and recommends opportunities for new products, alliances, affiliations, and partnerships. Directs SWHP and VBC sales and Account Management teams.
Essential Functions: - Drives new business development activities and opportunities for revenue across multiple channels. Identifies and leads new growth of existing and expanding business. Directs and performs activities to grow the business, such as client prospecting, due diligence, contracting, negotiation, and sales calls. - Translates market and customer needs into clearly defined strategy, goals, objectives, and tactics to drive sales & profitability for the organization. - Identifies and remains current on market trends. Determines product/service lifecycle implications and makes recommendations to maintain market competitiveness and to achieve sustainable economic success. - Demonstrates exceptional degree of critical thinking and innovation in developing new concepts, theories and products to address the most complex and strategic issues. - Oversees development of marketing collateral, financial performance reports, and financial/actuarial analysis of new contracts that demonstrates the value of the VBC and SWHP to parties as needed including individual employers and payers. - Develops, implements, and manages Retail and Direct sales strategies to drive top line performance by leveraging resources to support the business - Provides leadership and direction ensuring optimal levels of productivity, service, communications, and quality. - Supports web/digital development for Member Sales Engagement. - Identifies opportunities for retail presence in major retail chains: e.g.: Wal-Mart, HEB, Costco, or other high-density retailers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - 10+ years of experience in either managed care (HMO/PPO), ACO organizations, or other health insurance organizations. Experience within a provider governed HMO/PPO/ACO preferred. - 5+ years leadership experience preferred. - Leadership experience over a sales team - Well versed in the use of contemporary software applications. - Possesses solid communication, technology, analytical, management, and teamwork skills. - Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively operate in a complex, matrixed environment of an integrated health system. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in an expedient and decisive manner. - Appreciation of cultural diversity and sensitivity towards target population.
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree strongly preferred - 10+ years of experience - Experience leading a health plan sales team is preferred
