El Camino Hospital, a non-profit organization with hospital campuses in Mountain View and Los Gatos, California, has been serving communities in the south San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 50 years. We are currently seeking a full-time Patient Account Representative to perform physician billing and account follow-up, as well as customer service activities.
The Patient Account Representative will be responsible for the following: ensuring claims are billed timely and accurately using the Hospital Claims Scrubber Tool; reporting all unbilled claim information and issues that may delay billing to Management to ensure there is no adverse effect on SVMD and Physician Practice cash collections and Accounts Receivable; receiving and processing correspondence and phone inquiries from patients, payers or any other third parties in a timely and professional manner; resolving accounts by contacting third party payer organizations or patients to facilitate timely payments; keeping informed of managed care and contractual arrangements in order to resolve and process accounts by HMO/PPO payers; monitoring and reporting on the status of outstanding accounts within assigned unit or area of responsibility; following up on unpaid, denied and all payment variances for account resolution; resolving credit balances that are due to patient and payers; posting daily cash and adjustments for hospital and professional billing; ensuring all accounts are resolved in a compliant manner and according to all rules and regulations; and working collaboratively with other team members in the work unit and sharing knowledge and best practices.
High School diploma or equivalency with a minimum of 4 years of related work experience in a multi-specialty Physician Billing office
Experience in health insurance or a physician office with knowledge of the insurance industry
An understanding of Medicare, Medi-Cal HMO, PPO and 3rd party rules and regulations
An understanding of the basics of contracting
The ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
