This position leads the strategic sourcing team with responsibility for contract performance management for all spend categories across the supply chain. The Strategic Sourcing Director will be responsible for leading process re-designs to transform the cross functional supply chain processes and drive a collaborative culture of speed, agility, reduced variability and increased accountability. This position works collaboratively across the organization to set priorities and report on contract progression. Such priorities include cost reduction; operational and strategic initiatives; and sourcing and contracting strategy implementation. The individual is responsible for overseeing all phases of the contract process and requires skills necessary to liaise with cross functional departments involved in the contract process – business units, legal, enterprise security, supply chain, compliance, etc. Establishing metrics and service level agreements to drive timely completion is a critical function of the contract performance management department. The Strategic Sourcing Director is also responsible for ensuring accuracy of contract catalog development, developing standard contracting guidelines and maintain sourcing and procurement policies and procedures.
WHAT IS EXPECTED (Essential Functions):
Collaborate with other supply chain directors and with other functions regarding Supply Chain processes to understand business needs, implement improvements, and ensure the effective implementation of enterprise-wide Supply Chain solutions. Works with Legal, key business leaders, hospital executives, medical staff leaders and department managers, to develop and monitor work plans designed to bring demonstrable value to system-wide organizations.
Exhibit strong change management leadership to develop, mentor and motivate the supply chain workforce around Supply Chain process improvements.
Analyze current business and technical processes to develop new and modified business processes.
Understand the sourcing portfolio priorities as set by the sourcing portfolio teams. Align such portfolio priorities to the organizations business goals and strategic objectives.
Provide ownership of the Supplier On-Boarding process to include leveraging technology, defining supplier registration processes and supplier handbook content.
Provide strategic and tactical guidance for all team activities to Strategic Sourcing Contract Administrators, Contract Coordinators and Commodity Directors based on best practices observed both within System, in and outside of industry. Manage and mentor staff to ensure professional growth and development.
Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry models. Oversee the supplier selection and negotiation process for key sourcing teams and support the Strategic Sourcing Contract Administrators and Commodity Directors in the resolution of major customer satisfaction and vendor performance issues.
Implement supplier performance management processes and techniques in collaboration with peer sourcing portfolio directors.
Experience in Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management is required.
The ideal candidate for the Strategic Sourcing Director role is detail-oriented, strategic, analytical, has supply chain process development experience and is adept at relating to and communicating with all levels of leadership.
